How would they be able to tell if someones straight unless they are actually with the opposite sex or causing trouble? I think they should be allowed in as long as they dont offend anyone.

I agree with tishtash. To ad to this, if we were to start throwing people out of bars based on their being straight, how can we then turn around, and expect to be accepted in their world?

Absolutely not.......I work in a Bar where both straight and Gay people go in ...........I really do not think that segregating ourselves would help in the slightest........look at certain religious faiths.......segregation has done them NO favours.......lets all mix be happy and still have our own little places of heaven to retreat to when needed, so longs nobody is causing trouble then live and let live.

mmmmmm.....
Well a bar is a bar, "PEOPLE" go there to socialise not because they are straight or gay,
I mean it would be like a security not letting you into a straight bar because you look gay, and we would complain about that as well.

I used to be a bouncer in a Gay & Lesbian club in Canberra, & socialise in another. The one I worked in I had to be assertive after the straight clubs closed as you would get the homophob's, which are obnoxious sober but try dealing with them when their tanked. But I nevcer had any major drama's! The club where I went to relax! One night we had a hetro couple come in, the guy was so anti gay's! He slammed into my mates woman, & my mate asked him to apologise to her & he refused. So there was a bit of a scuffle my mate getting the better, p..... the guy off. He said he had a gun in the car & was gunna get it, I asked his g/friend if he did & she said yes. So I quickly went out to try & stop him coming back into the club, as I was crossing the road he tried to shot me. Luckily he was really drunk & he missed, but the bullet hit the club window. I made a citizen's arrest & waited for the police, fortunately no one was injured except the jerk off who shot at me & my mates in the club. So

I have never went to a gay club but I have a straight friend who goes there with his mates and yes the men do try to get with him, but he brushes it off and thinks that if you go to gay club then you are entering in their zone and if you can't hack it then don't go and I agree with that,if gay people offend straigt people then don't go but throw them out just becaus they are not gay if they are willing to be open minded.

There is a difference between reverse discrimination and providing safety. Non heterosexuals, in 2009, are still killed, beaten and excluded by straight society because of their sexuality. Until that changes there will never be true equality down the pub.

There is a place in the world for ,and straight, bars. I go to sraight bars because I have straight friends and because they have good food, but if i want to dance and have a good time without feeling self conscious, i go to "she bar" or other bars like it, that accept you for who you are, and do not look down on you, because your sexuality differs from "their" "norm".
